Create a group chat

You can create a group in Verum Messenger and add up to 10,000 members to it.

To create a group:

  1. Open the Chats tab in Verum Messenger.
  2. Tap on the icon at the top right of the screen
  3. Tap “Create Group”.
  4. Select the contacts you want to add to the group. Then Tap Next.
  5. Enter a name for the group. You can use Cyrillic, Latin, numbers, symbols and emoji. The minimum number of characters in a group name is three.
  6. Optionally, you can add a group avatar by Taping on the Camera icon and selecting one of the following options: Take a photo or Select a photo.
  7. When you finish the installation, the picture will be displayed next to the group name in the Chats tab.
  8. Tap Create.

Leave the group chat

If you decide to leave the group, then follow these steps:

  1. Open Verum Messenger.
  2. Enter a group chat.
  3. Tap the name of the group.
  4. Tap Leave Group.
  5. Alternatively, you can simply swipe the group name to the left on the chat list and Tap Delete.

In both cases, after you log out, the chat will be removed from your list and you will no longer be able to enter it.

All members of the group will be notified of your leaving the group. The message ”… left the group!” will appear in the chat.

Deleting a group chat

Only the creator of a group can permanently delete a group in Verum Messenger. The rest can leave it.

To delete a group permanently:

  1. Open Verum Messenger.
  2. Enter a group chat.
  3. Tap the name of the group.
  4. Tap Remove Group.
  5. Select the option “Delete for everyone”

After deleting the “For all” group, all messages and the group itself will disappear from all participants forever.

Silent mode

In groups and private chats, it is possible to turn off the notification sound that plays when messages are received. By default, the sound and volume is determined by the notification settings on your phone. Verum Messenger has an option to turn off notification sounds for individual chats. When you turn off the sound of notifications, all notifications in the chat will come in vibration mode. This can be useful, for example, if you are distracted by a large number of notifications in a group.

To enable or disable the notification sound in Verum Messenger:

  1. Open Verum Messenger.
  2. Enter a group or chat.
  3. Tap on the contact’s name or the name of the group.
  4. Turn the sound on or off.

Keep in mind that setting sounds in chat and groups adjusts the sound of incoming notifications. The sound of outgoing chat messages is controlled by the settings on your phone.
