Offline Chats

About Offline Chat

Verum Messenger supports offline messaging. This feature allows you to communicate with people nearby without an internet connection. You only need a Wi-Fi module enabled on your device — no Wi-Fi network or mobile data is required.

This can be especially useful in situations where there is no internet access, such as during travel, at events, or in remote areas.

Offline Chat requires iOS 26.0 or later.

How it works

Verum Messenger allows devices to discover each other and exchange data directly, without an internet connection or a Wi-Fi router. Messages, photos, and files are sent directly between devices.

All messages in Offline Chat are stored locally on your device.

Pair a device

Before you can send messages, you need to pair your device with another person’s device:

  1. Open the Offline Chat tab in Verum Messenger.
  2. Tap “Pair Device”.
  3. Choose one of the modes:
    • Accept pairing — your device will wait for incoming pairing requests from nearby devices.
    • Search nearby — your device will search for available devices nearby.
  4. When a device is found, confirm the pairing.

Once paired, the device will be remembered and you can find it faster next time.

Find a paired device

To connect to a previously paired device:

  1. Open the Offline Chat tab in Verum Messenger.
  2. Tap “Find Device”.
  3. Select the desired device from the list.

The connection will be established automatically.

Send messages and files

Once connected to another device, you can:

  • Send text messages — type your message and tap Send.
  • Send photos — tap the attachment button (+) and select a photo from your gallery or take a new one.
  • Send files — tap the attachment button (+) and choose a file of any type.

Connection status

A signal strength indicator is displayed in the chat header, showing the quality of the connection between devices. The indicator shows from 0 to 4 signal bars.

Possible connection states:

  • Idle — not connected.
  • Searching — looking for nearby devices.
  • Connecting — establishing a connection.
  • Connected — ready to send and receive messages.
